Deanne Reynolds, Ed.D.
After graduating from the University of Florida’s Business program and working as a consultant for a few years with General Electric Capital, Deanne Reynolds realized she needed to fulfill her calling to become a teacher, so she could make a positive impact on children and prepare them for a successful future. She began her teaching career as a 7th Grade Science Teacher for Broward County Public Schools, where she developed her leadership skills as Grade Level Team Leader and Step Team Coach. After teaching in the public school system for seven years, she transitioned to the City of Pembroke Pines Charter School as an 8th Grade U.S. History Teacher.
During her tenure at the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools, Dr. Reynolds has served as the chair of not only the Social Studies Department, but also of the National History Day committee. She has also instituted several enrichment programs that connect students to the outside world so that they can see the relevance of what they are learning and apply it to real life. These experiences allow her students to make connections with the things that they have learned in the classroom through the items, collections and artifacts that are part of the museum. Her dedication and commitment to student learning earned her the Teacher of the Year award at her middle school campus in 2018. In 2017, she was awarded the Florida History Day Teacher of Merit for her development and use of creative teaching methods that interest students in history and help them to make exciting discoveries about the past, and was also awarded the 2019 Florida Black History Middle School Excellence in Education Award by Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, for her relentless enthusiasm for history education.
With the innovative spirit Deanne Reynolds brings to every single task she requires her students to do, learning comes alive in her classroom as she allows her students to critically think about historical and current events by engaging them in debates, mock trials, puppet shows, and a variety of interactive thought-provoking activities. Recently, she earned her Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Innovation; through this program she learned innovative pedagogies and strategies to improve her students’ abilities to become creative problem solvers. Moreover, Dr. Reynolds's qualitative dissertation research, Using Entrepreneurship Education to Develop Students' 21st Century Skills, implemented a blended technology-entrepreneurship course to activate the entrepreneurial mindset of students, and provided the groundwork for students to explore careers and create solutions for future challenges. She hopes to develop her students’ diverse talents and build their capacity as future leaders in order to empower them for the possibilities of tomorrow.
